Hopler Blaufrankisch (2013)

Blaufrankisch (blaa-fronk-ish) is the second most popular wine produced in Austria.  Hopler Vineyards is located in the Brugundland region of Austria; which is an hour by train southeast of Vienna.  The dark ruby red color of Blaufrankisch comes with the aroma of strawberries and tobacco.   It is a dark fruited, peppery, firmly structured wine that is fresh and elegant due to wood barrel aging.  Blaufrankisch pairs best with beef and venison dishes.  This wine just received 89 points in the February 2017 issue of Decanter Wine magazine.  So come by Zillie’s and ask for this wine or one one of the other offerings we have from Hopler Vineyards.  Cheers!
