Freakin’ Firkin Friday @ 3
October 27 @ 3:00 pm
To celebrate the wonderful change in weather and the coming of Fall we are tapping two firkins this year. And what, you might ask, is a firkin? Well it’s actually a unit of measure and also a particular kind of keg used for cask conditioning; one quarter of a barrel, 72 pints, 9 imperial gallons. Firkins can be wooden or metal and the most curious thing about them is the manner in which they are tapped. In order to keep the air out , the keg is laid on its side and the spout is driven in horizontally. It’s a bit messy to tap, so stand clear!
We’ll be tapping kegs of cask conditioned beer at 3PM on Frikin’ Firkin Friday on the deck – and we’ll be giving away FREE Heavy Seas Pint Glasses to the first 48 customers!
